1934-

New Orleans native Connie Jones first picked up a bugle while in military school. He began playing trumpet when he was 10 years old and got his professional start playing traditional New Orleans jazz on Bourbon Street at age 18, leading the Basin Street Six with fellow band member Pete Fountain.

He worked with the bands led by Fountain, Billy Maxted, and Santo Pecora and performed in the last band led by Jack Teagarden in New Orleans just before his death.

Connie went on to lead his own band at the Blue Angel nightclub on Bourbon Street and was a bandleader aboard the Delta Queen steamboat. He continues to tour the US, performing at jazz festivals parties.

Connie continues to appear at The French Quarter Festival, sometimes joined by Pete Fountain, his long-time friend and musical colleague.
