Peter Bullis plays banjo with and manages the New England based New Black Eagle Jazz Band. The NBEJB, a vital voice in traditional jazz, was founded in 1971 and has appeared on the Riverwalk Jazz public radio series as a guest band, as well as alongside The Jim Cullum Jazz Band at festivals and jazz parties over the years.

Peter Bullis’ involvement in traditional jazz began as an undergrad at Dartmouth College in the early 1950s. He was a founding member of the Dartmouth Indian Chiefs, one of many traditional jazz bands formed on Ivy League campuses in the period. The band appeared at Carnegie Hall, on Steve Allen’s Tonight Show, at Jimmy Ryan's nightclub and throughout the New York/Boston area. After Dartmouth, Peter earned a graduate degree from Harvard and successfully pursued a career in architecture while maintaining his interest in playing traditional jazz. Since joining the New Black Eagles in 1971, Peter Bullis has appeared worldwide and on many recordings.

John S. Wilson wrote in the New York Times of the band's "strong perceptive performances of the rarely heard music once played by such New Orleans stars as King Oliver, Johnny Dodds, Sam Morgan and Bunk Johnson."
