John Capobianco is a San Francisco Bay Area trumpet player, bandleader and music educator. After graduating from High School in 1974, he attended Cal State SF and the College of San Mateo; and he took private study with Joe Alessi, Chet Baker, Clark Terry, Dizzy Gillespie among others.

Mr. Capobianco has been featured lead trumpet and soloist with Russ Morgan, Joe Henderson and Louie Bellson, and has appeared in the live stage productions Stardust and Hoagy. He leads his own jazz ensembles of various sizes, including big bands and combos, and his groups appear at a variety of Bay Area venues, including the San Francisco Opera, Candlestick Park, Yoshi's in Oakland, the San Francisco Jazz Festival and the San Jose Jazz Festival.

John Capobianco has long been involved in jazz education in the Bay Area. From 1984 to 2000, he was an instructor in combo and big band at the Stanford Jazz Workshop. He has taught at Jazz Camp West and the University of the Pacific in Stockton, and also gives private instruction in trumpet.
